Choose Life Today

As I begin my day, spending time with God, He has reminded me that each day He presents us with a very basic and simple choice.  This simple choice is not to be taken lightly and is a matter of life and death.

Deuteronomy 30:15 says, “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil…”

God is so loving that he gives us this choice every day.  His desire is that we choose life.  However, many times we allow our circumstances to dictate our choice.  If our focus is taken from Him our choice, by default, will become one of death.

To choose life we must simply fulfill the great commandment to “love God and walk in His ways”.  This choice brings blessings and the promises of God.  It puts us in the safety of His arms.  It seems so simple but many of us don’t take the time to make this intentional decision each day.  We get busy, we lose our focus, and we put God in a secondary position to our schedule.  By not taking action to choose life we are actually choosing death.

This is not God’s will for us.  His will, according to His son Jesus is; “that we would have life more abundantly” (John 10:10).

Choose life today.  God says, …”I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days…” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20).
