The Choice is Yours

Joshua 24:15 says, “…as for me and my house we will serve the Lord”.
As we have completed Thanksgiving we are headed full steam ahead into the Christmas season many choices are made and our time is filled with many activities. Radio stations are playing Christmas music, homes are decorated, communities have turned on their lights and everyone is preparing.
Countless hours will be spent shopping, cooking, arranging schedules, sending cards, attending parties, pageants and concerts. Through all of this it is so easy to lose focus on why all of these things are occurring. We can become servant to any of them and they can dictate how we act. So as we enter into this Christmas season I challenge you to ask yourself, who are you serving and do your actions demonstrate that clearly.
Bob Dylan wrote these lyrics:
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You’re gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody
The choice of whom you will serve must be made. We don’t have a choice not to make a choice.
As Joshua says, we must choose this day who we will serve.
It is my hope and prayer that you will have the same answer as he gave…”As for me and my house we will serve the Lord” during this Christmas season and you will not lose focus of the God that we serve and the greatest gift that He gave us through His Son Jesus.
