Rest

Matthew 11:28 says, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
On this “black Friday” many have been shopping for hours, waiting in lines, fighting the crowds to secure a “good deal”. This afternoon your bodies will feel the impact and you will probably need a nap or at least need to take some time to rest.
I want to encourage you to take rest in Jesus today.
Many of you are tired and not just from the rush of the Thanksgiving Holiday. You may feel that you are always behind. It may seem that you can never get ahead and the harder you try the more intense the struggle becomes. For some this may be a battle with your finances, others your relationships with friends and family or your spouse. Many things can cause us to grow weary.
But Jesus says, “come to Me…and I will give you rest”. Jesus wants you to surrender your challenges over to Him. He is capable of dealing with them and can provide you with the rest you need. In Isaiah 40:31 it says, “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint”.
We need to do what the old hymn says, “All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give”. And when we do, we will have peace. His peace that passes understanding. Enter into the place of peace and rest today and the Lord will restore your strength.
