Set Apart (Reflections on I Thessalonians 5:23)

I Thessalonians 5:23 says, Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The word sanctify means to be set apart, to make holy; consecrate.  God is so intimate with you that He personally sets you apart for special purposes.  My reflection on this verse provided me with encouragement to know that such a mighty God has extended His hand to direct my coarse.

This is my reflection:

I am set apart for God’s service.  He will make my situation peaceful because He is the God of peace.  I separate myself from carnality and I aggressively move forward toward God and righteousness.

Ask God today what He has set you apart to do.  Lean into Him to hear His voice and allow His words to lead and guide you.  His way is higher than yours and His plans are greater.  Trust in Him and walk in the calling and purpose He has set before you.  In Him you will find peace and joy.  His joy will be your strength, His light will guide your path.
