What is Within You

Mark 7:15:23, there is nothing from without a man that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man…for from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts…all these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
The key for us to live above sin is dependent upon what is in your heart. We all are exposed to sin because we live in a fallen world. But being exposed to sin isn’t what becomes sin for us. It is what we do after that, which is driven by the condition of our heart. This is why David pleas with God in Psalms 51 to “create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him”. It is the inner strength that allows us to process external influences properly. Therefore, we must build up the heart, the inward man. We must feed it with thoughts that are pure and holy. Our outward acts are a direct reflection of our inward strength. For it is written, out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Proverbs 4:23 further expounds, keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Being diligent is a resolute, pre-determined decision that we hunger and thirst for righteousness. That we are constantly seeking first the kingdom of God. That we do not waiver from right. That we are persistent in a continual pursuit of His perfection. We are accountable and disciplined in our daily walk. We have him within us to the extent that His nature is outwardly expressed and evident to anyone who comes in contact with us.
Today check your inner person, check your heart. A right heart will guide you and keep you from sin. A right heart will transform your thoughts. A right heart will cause your words to bring life into your situations. If you get anything right in life get your heart right. Ultimately a right heart is only possible if it is filled with Jesus Christ, the word of God and the Holy Spirit. Fill your heart today with these things.
