Your Cup Runneth Over (Reflections on Psalms 23:5)

Psalms 23:5 says, Thou (God) prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies, Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

My reflection relative to this verse is as follows:

Lord, you have promised in our word that I wouldn’t be the same after coming into contact with you.  You have anointed my head with oil just like David.  I am after Your heart, Your thoughts, Your wisdom and Your passion.  You inspire me.  My life will be a reflection of Yours.  The bounty of Your provision will spill out over everything I touch and all those who I come in contact with.  The words that I speak and the actions I initiate will be filled with your power.  Favor will be upon me and those who surround me because of my love for You.  I will prosper and celebrate the victory You provide.  Because You are for me nothing will be able to stand against me because You are my beloved and I am Yours.

Isn’t awesome to know that God prepares a table for you.  He invites you to be with Him.  To have deep conversations with Him.  If He prepares for us doesn’t it make sense that we prepare for Him.  If we are a vessel intended for Him to fill to overflowing we need to make sure we don’t have a lid on ourselves.  Make sure we are ready to receive and be used.  He has plans for us that we can’t imagine.  We simply must accept His preparation and dine with Him and let Him take us to places that are beyond what we could even ask or think.
